Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many meetings are there per month?

A: A den usually meets 2 times per month. The Pack meets 1 -2 times per month, once for a pack meeting in which awards are given and some months there will be a pack outing. This means that a scout would have between 3-4 meetings per month total.

Q: When are the meetings?

A: Each den meets at different days/times. Contact the den leader for more information on specifics. Our Pack meetings are held the last Monday of the month (August-April) at Richardson Elementary School MPR at 6pm. Monday. Pack outings are generally planned on Saturdays.

Q: Is it free?

A: There is yearly registration for the Pack.  This includes a subscription to Boys Life Magazine and pays for all pack patches and awards for one year. The scouts are also responsible for purchasing a uniform and book and for paying den dues. Den dues are to pay for the projects and supplies needed for the meetings.

Q: Do I need to attend the meetings with my scout or do I drop him off?

A: All parents, siblings and family members are welcomed and encouraged to attend the pack meetings. This is a special time for the scouts to be recognized for all their hard work and all they've achieved. You may not drop off your scout at these meetings. Pack outings are a family event and we encourage all family and friends to come along. The more the merrier! As for the den meetings, it depends on the rank of the scout. Scouts who are at the Tiger level (1st grade), need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All other ranks (2nd-5th grade), scouts can be dropped off at the meetings or the parent can choose to stay. Parents are always welcome and are never turned away.

Q: What is a den and what is a pack?

A: A den is a group usually made up of 6 - 10 cub scouts in the same grade at school. A pack is all the First through Fifth grade cub scouts.

Q: What do the boys do in cub scouts?

A: Cub Scouting means "doing." Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing things. Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness.

The 10 purposes of Cub Scouting are:
