Troop
45 of Pine Plains, New York has a long history of providing boys with
the finest opportunity to develop leadership skills and grow in
character through the program set forth by the Boy Scouts of America.
It
has always been the goal of the Troop to remain a “boy led troop”. To
do this, each member of the troop has to have a commitment to that same
goal. Before a boy can be a leader he must have training to learn the
principles of leadership: Through the practical application of these
leadership skills the troop will become a stronger, and remain a truly,
“Boy Led Troop”.
Troop
45 will continue to build the leaders of tomorrow by challenging every
boy to live by the Scout Laws and Promise. The Troop will ask every boy,
when the time is right, to accept the
responsibility and fulfill an obligation to a leadership position in
the Troop. Acceptance of this responsibility will be followed up with a
commitment to attending training to further their leadership skills.
The
Troop will offer boys the opportunity to explore the outdoors and
experience new adventures. The Troop will continue to expand the outdoor
program. It will be the boys' responsibility to research and discuss
new and exciting locations for future outings. The foundation of a
Venture Patrol will offer the opportunity for older, more experienced
boys to use their leadership skills, as well as knowledge of the
outdoors, to plan trips in a small group that will be exciting and
challenging. The goal of the outdoor program is for boys to have fun and
learn respect for nature, as well as practice conservation principals.
Advancement is a very important part of any Scouting program. Troop 45 is committed to
providing boys the experiences and resources necessary for rank
advancement. It is the responsibility of the individual scout to set his
goals and put into action a plan to achieve those goals. The troop will
provide all the necessary support: Troop Guides, Merit Badge
councilors, etc. The troop will be a resource for advancement while
upholding the integrity of the rank.
It is my desire for all the boys to feel this is “Their Troop” and
that they have pride in what it stands for. All members are to be
treated with respect and dignity. I want all boys to develop a concern
for each other's welfare. With hard work and dedication Troop 45 will
give each boy a life long experience and we will all become “One in
Scouting”!
