Deception Pass and Tour of NAS Whidbey Island

Our Scouts recently went camping to Deception Pass, on Whidbey Island, where they spent the night.  The next morning, they went on a guided tour of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

"Boy Scout Troop 4028 got to see the P-3C Orion on Saturday, May 10th at Maritime Patrol Squadron One (VP-1) during a base tour set up by NAS Public Affairs.  The Lynden, Wash visitors also went into the air traffic control tower and radar to learn about this naval aviation facility."

Special thanks to all our men and women serving our country for taking the time to make a very memorable experience for the Scouts!

September 2012, 3 experienced scouts and 2 new scouts hiked 8 miles, starting at 5000 feet elevation, and ending at 6800 feet seen above.  The rest of the troop went on a easier hike, 4 miles and to 6500 feet elevation.  Philip took a nap in the bed of a truck (After being exhausted by the easy hike,) and watched the Scoutmasters prepare the Ultimate Man Dinner (under the rocks).  Yummy!  Paul, the SPL, is the only scout to do both hikes last weekend. Paul leads by doing, and is doing a great job!  Oh, two old scoutmasters made both hikes too.  I won't tell you who the old guys were becasue they felt a lot older after that!
