When is the best time to join?Anytime! New scouts are welcome to join at any time during the year. We will make sure we get your scout up to speed quickly, meeting new friends and participating in exciting activities.
When do we meet?
Dens typically meet 2-3 times a month. Lions meet once a month. Meetings may take place at a family's home, park, museum, or other local setting depending on the activity. Dens try to schedule meetings around other activities (sports, music, school activities, etc).
The Dens get together as a Pack once a month for a Pack Meeting (often Sundays). These meetings may include advancement ceremonies, games, fishing, camping, or team building activities. Pack meetings are also an opportunity for the Pack to update families on upcoming volunteer events and other news.
What Den will my son be in?
Dens are organized by age/grade level.
In addition, a new pilot program has been created for Kindergartners called Lions.
The Lion program is intended to introduce young boys into scouting. Lions meet once a month. Parents rotate leading meetings and each parent receives a parent guide to help organize the meeting. In addition, an experienced Scout volunteer will serve as a Lion Guide to support the den as they progress.
What are the costs?
New Scouts - $190
Returning Scouts - $170
Webelos 2 (Arrow of Light) - $155
Scouts joining part way through the year will have their dues prorated.
Dues include:
- Application fees for new scouts
- Handbook
- Neckerchief and slide
- Pack T-Shirt
- Advancement (loops, patches)
- Unit Patch (for new scouts)
- Insurance
- Costs for activities (some optional activities are an additional cost)
What else does my scout need?
Scouts should have a field uniform (blue shirt for cub scouts, tan shirt for Webelos) including council patch and world scout crest. Scout uniform pants/shorts and hat are optional.
