Cub Scout Pack 2012 Code of Conduct Statement

All Scouts, Parents, and Adult Leaders of Pack 2012 are representatives of their community, family, the Henry L. Mayfield Elementary and the Boy Scouts of America Southeast Louisiana Council.

Therefore, all Scouts, Parents, and Adult Leaders are asked to obey this Code of Conduct as a condition for participation. The success of the Cub Scouting program is reliant on Scout AND parent participation; parents are therefore asked to read through this attached document with their Cub Scout, discuss the Code of Conduct, and sign in the blank provided.

Scout Expectations:

Be courteous and kind to others.

Listen, pay attention and ALWAYS follow Akela (leader).

Respect one another and your leader.

Keep hands and feet to yourselves—bullying, fighting, and physical or verbal harassment will not be tolerated.

Always be on time.

Wear a proper uniform with PRIDE—clean, neat, and complete—to all Scouting events*.

Be honest and always tell the truth.

Treat school facilities and property—and all other Scouting venues—with care and respect.

DO YOUR BEST!

Parent Expectations:

Always be on time.

Support your son's participation in Scouting by being active in his progress toward rank, various achievements and in helping him understand the Code of Conduct.

Accompany your Scout on all Pack activities, including Pack meetings—Parents may be asked to participate in pack/den level activities depending on unit leader needs, but remember that scout meetings are for

                Scouts and Adult Leaders,

attendance by siblings and involvement of parents is at the discretion of the Pack Leader.

Use of alcohol, tobacco products, or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited while at Scout functions.

Set a good example, act as a role model, demonstrate proper behaviors.

Understand that Adult Leaders are volunteers and they are here to provide a valuable Scouting program.

DO YOUR BEST!

Adult Leader Expectations:

Always be on time.

Assume responsibility for the safety, well-being, and behavior of your Scouts at all times.

Follow BSA rules regarding Youth Protection, discipline and other matters.

Treat all Scouts and parents with respect.

Wear a proper uniform with PRIDE—clean, neat, and complete—to all Scouting events*.

DO YOUR BEST!

We recognize that for boys to grow to responsible men, they need to be held accountable for their actions. Any Scout who intentionally participates in an activity that has the potential to harm himself or Pack members, or behaves in a manner that reflects negatively upon Pack 2012 will be disciplined. Discipline at scout meetings will be at the discretion of the unit leader in accordance with the following guidelines:

Failure to obey a rule will result in a warning, followed by time out or removal from an activity.

In cases of harmful or repetitive misbehavior, parents may be asked to remove their Scout.

Unit leaders have the right to exclude a Scout from their meetings for reasons of conduct. The situation will be reviewed by the Pack Committee and, in extreme cases, and after consultation with the Council; a boy

may be dismissed from the Pack for misconduct.

Each Scout is to be responsible for their own behavior, and only when necessary will parents be asked to intervene or the procedure be invoked to send a Scout home from their Pack activity.

We recognize that as a participant, we, through our actions, represent Pack 2012, the Henry L. Mayfield Elementary (charter organization) and the Boy Scouts of America. We promise to uphold the standards of conduct expected.
