Dear Parent,

Thank you for considering scouting as an activity for your child. I hopeyou find the information contained here to be useful.

Cub Scouts is a program designed to help your son grow physically, mentally, and morally. This is achieved through fun and interactive,achievement-based activities such as meetings, field trips, communityservice projects, and camping. Most of our events are family-friendlyand the whole family is encouraged to participate in the pack meetings, Pinewood Derby, spring & fall family camps, and more. Some activities may be new to the whole family and learning something new as a family is part of the adventure of Cub Scouts!

We strive to have 2 den meetings, 1 activity, and a pack meeting in a typical month during the school year. We do recognize that life is busy, therefore attendance to all the events each month is not mandatory, but the more you attend, the more educational and fun scouting will be. The Cub Scout program is intended for kids in grades 1-5. Your son or daughter can join in any of those grades and at any time during the school year and still achieve his designated rank. At the end of 5th grade, the kids transition to The Scouts BSA, which continues throughout high school.

Like most aspects of scouting, Pack 413 is operated 100% by parent volunteers. We ask that you involve yourself in some way to ensure the highest quality programming for the boys. We have positions of any talent that range from Pack Treasurer to organizing a simple field trip to bringing the hot dogs to an event. I ask you to get involved! I promise you will find it to be rewarding and your child will be proud of what you do too. We also have many parent volunteers that are happy to assist parents new to scouting in learning the basics.

Your child’s safety and the safety of everyone involved in the program is a primary value. All of our adult leaders are required to pass BSA Youth Protection Training (YPT) as well as State and Federal background checks. As an added measure of safety, the BSA has a “2 Deep Leadership” rule, meaning that kids are to always be with a minimum of 2 adults at all times.

We would love to have you join with us! We never turn away anyone wanting to participate. If finances are a challenge, financial assistance is available. If you are interested in signing up your child, please come to one of our events or contact us. Our email address is:

I hope to see you and your new Cub Scout involved!
