Parents:

What did your daughter do today?  From planting her first community garden, to learning to say “Hi” in Swahili, to making lifelong friendships—Girl Scouts turns boring days into days she’ll remember all her life.  As we enter our 100th year as the premier organization for girls, our mission continues to focus on building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  Girl Scouting develops girls’ leadership skills and provides opportunities for girls to make an impact on our world.

Are you interested in creating a lasting change and making a difference in a girl’s life?  Leaders are an essential part of the Girl Scout movement, making a difference everyday in the lives of girls.  As we enter our 100th year as the premier organization for girls, our mission continues to be focused on building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  We believe that one girl can make a difference and that girls together can change our world.  In partnership with committed adult volunteers,we help girls discover who they can be and what they can do, wherever they choose to put their energies.

We recognize that through this ever-changing world, girls need an environment where they are given the opportunity to explore these changes both locally and globally.  Because of this, now is the perfect time to sign up for Girl Scouts. Girl Scouting develops girls’ leadership skills and provides opportunities for girls that make an impact on our world.  Adult leadership is also needed to form troops, as girls need access to wise adults who both inspire and respect them.  There are so many flexible ways to participate; there are volunteer opportunities in both short-term and year-round positions.

Is your daughter interested in learning a sport, sampling the arts, preparing for a career, or pitching a tent? Does she dream of publishing stories online, traveling to exotic locales, or speaking on behalf of girls in your town? In Girl Scouting, she can do it all! Girls in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade (ages 5-17) can join as girl members. It's never too late to join in the fun. Membership is $12 annually, and financial aid is available.

A girl can be a Girl Scout in many different ways. She can:

  • Join a troop/group With the same girls, all sessions; which typically spans the length of a school year.
  • Camp: Day or resident
  • Events: Different girls attend each event
  • Special Interest: With the same girls, all sessions relating to a specific theme or purpose
  • Travel: Regional, national and international trips
  • Virtual: High-quality, interactive program; safe, secure, online environment
  • For current program information: please visit the Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland website at www.gsoh.org
