Welcome Scouts and Parents.
We are cub scout pack 978 located inJoppa, Maryland. From early September until May our pack meets everyMonday night starting at 6:45 pm at Copley Parish Church of theResurrection on Rumsey Island in Joppa. We have lots of exciting eventsplanned for the year such as our Back to Pack Night & Sleepover,Fall Hayride with Bonfire, Pinewood Derby, Marbles Tournament andCrossover Camping. Summer activities begin in May and run through Augustmaking us a year round cub scout pack! We look forward to sharing thisexciting year with you and your scout!

Volunteers
Weare always looking for volunteers! You can do as much or as little asyour time allows. Do you have one hour a month? Become involves in theplanning of the Pack on the Committee Meeting. Have a couple hours ayear? Volunteer to plan/manage/lead an event such as the Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold or a monthly activity. Contact your Den Leader or theCommittee Chair (Shante' Ruffin) to talk about your options.
Membership
CubScouts is a community organization and as such Pack 978 accepts allboys regardless of where they live, go to school or go to church. TheCub Scout year runs from June to May. As of June, all boys areconsidered to have moved up a grade level and are considered to be ofthe next higher rank. Thus, boys in Kindergarten can join the Pack inJune as Tigers and don't have to wait until September when they startfirst grade.
Pack Meetings
Packmeetings are for all boys in the Pack and are held once a month duringthe school year. Pack meetings are typically held on the last Monday ofthe month at 7 p.m. at the Copley''s Parrish and run about anhour. Pack Nights with special events, such as our Halloween Pack Night,when all the boys come dressed in costume, as well as the ChristmasPack Night, when Santa visits, run longer.
Den Meetings (Sept. 2017 through May 2018)
Densare groups of six to 10 boys of the same age and typically all in thesame grade. The dens in our Pack meet about 3 times a month at Copley's Parrish.
As the boys move up in age and rank they stay with their den and typically keep the same meeting night.

Committee Meetings
TheCommittee is open to all parents. The Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. once a month all year round to work on setting up for each month and the next Scouting year.
