Troop 46 is sponsored by Campton Township.  We meet at the Grace Lutheran Church 5N600 Hanson Road in Lily Lake, every Monday night from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. 

Troop 46 is an active Troop that celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2011. We hold a weekend campout each month, except in  July, when we go to summer camp for a week.  Scouts work towards advancement in rank, accomplishment of merit badges, and Scouting skills during these outings.  Our major fundraisers (Popcorn and Christmas Wreath Sale) are used to purchase troop equipment, support scouting activities, and also to put money into individual Scout accounts that can be applied towards camping trips and Scout equipment.  This helps keep family costs down and teaches self-reliance, responsibility and goal setting. 

TROOP 46 LEADERSHIP

Our adult leaders include a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and Committee Members who all work together for the success of the Troop.  The Troop leadership is made up of a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) and Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders who have the responsibility of running the weekly meetings with the aid of the adult leaders.  There are many other Troop leadership positions that are elected every 6 months.  The Troop is structured with as many patrols as necessary to accommodate all of the boys.  Each patrol has a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader.  

Troop 46 is a boy led (boy run) troop.  The Scouts make the schedules, plan the campouts, plan the High Adventure trips, teach Scouting skills to other Scouts and organize the Courts of Honor.  The adult leaders are simply there for guidance and supervision.  This is a big (and very important) change from Cub Scouts.

CAMPING WITH TROOP 46         

Troop 46 goes on a weekend campout once a month come rain or shine or even snow. Each of these campouts is well planned by the boys, with the guidance of their leaders.  Grocery lists and menus are planned by the boys at the troop meeting prior to the weekend campout.  The cost of each campout is $15 - $20 per scout for food. Some trips require an additional fee i.e., skiing/snowboarding, climbing facility.  It is a requirement in our troop that each boy planning to go on the campout attend the previous meeting for “campout preparation”. 

Our campouts are always a lot of fun and the highlight of many of the boys’ Scouting adventures.  We want your Scout to join right in.  Parents are welcome and can participate as leaders.  Adult training is provided by the Boy Scouts of America Fox Valley District.

SUMMER CAMP & HIGH ADVENTURE TRIPS 

Each summer, Troop 46 attends a weeklong summer camp.  In recent years we have gone to Camp Phillips, Camp Makajawon, Camp Madron, Camp Gerber and Ingersoll Scout Camp.

Plans for summer camp are usually made up to one year in advance, which allows plenty of time for summer vacation plans.  We highly encourage the boys to participate in these summer camp programs as they offer many opportunities to earn merit badges, rank advancement and awards. 

High Adventure trips are for Scouts who have achieved First Class Rank and are age 13 and up (in some cases 14).  These trips involve many of the skills that have been learned at summer camp and troop campouts and act as an incentive for the boys to earn rank.  Past High Adventure trips have included: Sea Base Scout Camp in the Florida Keys, Hiking in the Grand Tetons, Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) and Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.  Every boy has great stories to tell and has learned the "skills of survival".
