Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster. (Boys may also become Boy Scouts if they have earned the Cub Scouting Arrow of Light Aware and are at least 10 years old, or have completed the fifth grade and are last 10 years old.)
The Eagle Scout rank carries with it a special significance, not only in Scouting but also as he enters higher education, business or industry, and community service. To earn the Eagle Scout rank, a Boy Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. On the trail to his Eagle rank, a Boy Scout will learn valuable life skills such as leadership, outdoor conservation, wilderness survival, knot tying, first aid, cooking, as well as ethics and morals.
In Scouting, the boys will be leaders of other Scouts and work with adult leaders to plan and conduct service projects to make a positive difference in the community. The boys will grow in character, citizenship, and physical fitness.
