Celebrating over 60 Years of Scouting Excellence

History

Troop 91 is proud to be celebrating more than 65 years of Scouting. Troop 91 was originally chartered on March 8, 1949, at the State St. Baptist Church, Cayce (1949-1952) under Scoutmaster H. M. Bowers. Later Scoutmasters included John Robie Elliott, Lester Elliott, Prentice Love, Carl Payne Jr., Joseph K. Carter, Richard (Dick) Hilton, Brent Garvin, Doyle Benjamin, Jerry Hilbish, Matthew Bailey, Steve Burdick and our present Scoutmaster Patrick Westcott.

Troop 91 is presently chartered at Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church of Columbia, South Carolina.  Our goals are to provide a challenging and enjoyable program of Outdoor Skills, such as Camping, Hiking, Backpacking, and Canoeing, plus citizenship and community service opportunities.

The ideals of Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, Law, Motto and Slogan.

The Scout Oath or Promise

On my honor
I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my Country and
To help other people at all times
To keep myself physically strong,
Mentally awake, and morally straight.

The Scout Law

A Scout is
Trustworthy
Loyal
Helpful
Friendly
Courteous
Kind
Obedient
Cheerful
Thrifty
Brave
Clean
and Reverent.

The Scout Motto

"Be Prepared"

The Scout Slogan

"Do A Good Turn Daily"

The Outdoor Code

As an American, I will do my best to
Be clean in my outdoor manners,
Be careful with fire,
Be considerate in the outdoors, and
Be conservation-minded.
