Each year the VFW honors the Eagle Scout of the Year. Each post is allowed to submit one nominee each year by March 1st of that year for the prior year.
Attached below is the application to the VFW and the basic rules are:
1. Local VFW Posts across the nation are accepting nominations for their Post's "Scout of the Year".
2. To be eligible for the award the Scout must:
A. Be a registered, active member of a Boy Scout Troop, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout
Ship. AND
B. Has received the Eagle Scout Award, Venture Silver Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award.
C. Has demonstrated practical citizenship in school, Scouting, and the community.
D. Has reached his/her 15th birthday and is enrolled in high school at the time of selection.
E. Has submitted his/her complete entry to a VFW Post in his/her community.
3. A Scout can only enter through ONE VFW Post.
4. A Scout can locate a sponsoring VFW Post by contacting their VFW Department (state) Headquarters as listed at: www.vfw.org
5. The entry form is attached. Deadline for entry to your local VFW Post is March 1st.
