Summer Camp 2021

For summer camp 2021 we'll be going to Heritage Reservation.  We'll be staying at the Bedford Campsite from July 18 to July 24.

If paid in full by March 23, the fees are $395 for Scouts and $175 for adults.

This will be a different summer camp unlike previous summer camps so some flexibility will be necessary from all of us.  The information here is subject to change as time rolls forward.  So here we go:

There is no final guidance on group size, out of state campers, capacity, campfires, or a possible cohort method.

As of now, Covid vaccination is NOT required by BSA to attend camp.

We will temperature check everyone prior to arriving at camp.  They will temperature check everyone on arrival.  If anyone has a fever of 100 or more (including drivers/parents) EVERYONE that rode in that vehicle to camp will be sent back home.

Units will be asked to clean more than in years past.

There will be one person per tent.  Heritage does not have enough tents for this so personal or unit tents will be needed.

There will be no visitors to camp this year, including OA night.

Adult leaders can still split the week, guidance will be forthcoming on that.

They have a new food company this year - Aramark.  Food service will be different this year.  We will eat in shifts - two shifts for both breakfast and dinner at different times.  Lunch will be a bag lunch for everyone. Tables will be set up inside and outside the dining hall this year.

They will hold a SCUBA camp 7/25-7/31.  Anyone 15 years old that has earned the Swimming MB can attend. Scouts will earn both the SCUBA merit badge and certification. Adults can attend and earn their SCUBA certification too. The cost for this week of camp is $700.

As you can see from the Merit Badge schedule that is attached, they are moving to a block schedule this year.  The Merit Badge sign up sheet that I distribute each year will be adjusted to reflect this change.  In the meantime, please look at the schedule and start making plans for what you wish to sign up for.

This is all of the info that I have at this time.  I'm sure more will come out as we get closer to July so please keep an eye on your email.

Just a reminder, payment is full is due anytime prior to the March 23 meeting.  You do not have to wait until March 23 to sign up.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Mr. Lisle

We will meet at Dormont Elementary School at 9:30 am Sunday July22.

Please do not be late as that will impact our check in time.

Lunch on leave day - as always, we will stop for a bag lunch on our way to Heritage at Lick Hollow Park.  Each Scout should have his own lunch in a container that can be thrown away after lunch is done that will tide him over until dinner around 6:30 pm Sunday evening

Watch - it cannot be emphasized enough that all attendees at camp should know what time it is and be where they are supposed to be on time. EVERY SCOUT should have a watch.
