Focusing on Values Throughout the Year

The Cub Scout 12 Core Values

We focus on building Strong Leaders with Strong Values.
Our meetings focus on teaching the 12 Cub Scout Core Values.

  • September – Cooperation: Working together with others toward a common goal. Cub Scouts and their families cooperate to make the first pack meeting a memorable occasion for all, including the new families and boys.
  • October - Responsibility:   Fulfilling our duty to God, country, other people, and ourselves. Cub Scouts will understand that everyone is responsible for fire prevention, and learn about the importance of keeping their promises.
  • November - Citizenship:  Contributing service and showing responsibility to local, state, and national communities. Citizenship is an obligation we all share as Cub Scouts and leaders. One of the key components of being a good citizen is helping others.
  • December - Respect:  Showing regard for the worth of someone or something. Cub Scouts will show respect and appreciation for everyone who helps with the pack. They will be courteous and show good manners at den and pack meetings.
  • January - Positive Attitude:  Being cheerful and setting our minds to look for and find the best in all situations. Through participating in a derby, boys will see the importance of having a positive attitude, regardless of the outcome of the race.
  • February - Resourcefulness:  Using human resources and other resources to their fullest. Through participating in Cub Scout activities boys will learn different ways to solve problems using various methods and means.
  • March - Compassion:  Being kind and considerate, and showing concern for the well-being of others. Cub Scouts will develop care and concern for the well-being of others by learning about simple first-aid and preparation for emergencies.
  • April - Faith:  Having inner strength or confidence based on our trust in a higher power. Cub Scouts will learn that it is important to look for the good in all situations. With their family guiding them, Cub Scouts will grow stringer in their faith.
  • May - Health & Fitness:  Being personally committed to keeping our minds and bodies clean and fit. By participating in the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program, Cub Scouts and their families develop an understanding of the benefits of being fit and healthy.
  • June - Perseverance:  Sticking with something and not giving up, even if it is difficult. Through participating in activities such as a bicycle rodeo, Cub Scouts learn the importance of practice and perseverance to improve new skills.
  • July - Courage:  Doing what is right regardless of how hard it is or what the consequences are. Cub Scouts will learn that courage means to be brave and do what is right, no matter what their I friends are doing.
  • August - Honesty:  Telling the truth and being a person worthy of trust. While participating in various Cub Scout summertime activities, Cub Scouts will gain a better understanding of the importance of following rules, being fair, and being trustworthy in games and in daily life.
