The first Rank all Cub Scouts earn is Bobcat no matter when they start. Bobcat has 7 requirements to complete.
To advance in rank there are 7 adventures to complete during the Scout year (June-May).
The Cub Scout Ranks are as follows;
Tiger: Boys who are in first grade or age 7.
Wolf: Boys who are in second grade or age 8.
Bear: Boys who are in third grade or age 9.
Webelos: Boys who are in fourth grade or age 10.
Arrow of Light: Boys who are in fifth grade or age 11.
