Each Cub Scout unit, known as a Pack, is chartered to an organization. In the case of Pack 615, our chartering organization is Holy Family Catholic Church. Membership is open to all boys in grades 1 through 5 who subscribe to the principles of Scouting; no other affiliation with Holy Family is required.

The youth members of the Pack are organized into Dens, according to their grade level:

• Grade 1: Tiger Cubs
• Grade 2: Wolves
• Grade 3: Bears
• Grade 4: Webelos I
• Grade 5: Webelos II

Each Den has a Den Leader, a trained adult volunteer. They coordinate and lead the Den's activities, often with assistance of other parents.

Cubs participate in most meetings and outings with their Dens. Even at Pack meetings, some of the activities are structured around the Dens. (See "When/where we meet" for more about Den and Pack meetings.)

In February of Grade 5, the Webelos II program ends; at that point, boys have the opportunity to transfer their membership to a Boy Scout Troop. We celebrate this "crossover" from Webelos to Scouts with a special ceremony at our annual Blue and Gold Banquet in February.

The Cubmaster is a trained adult volunteer who, with the help of one or more Assistant Cubmasters, coordinates and leads the Pack's activities, including monthly Pack meetings and other Pack-wide events. He also provides guidance and assistance to the Den Leaders, and coordinates the Dens' participation in Pack meetings.

The Pack Committee is a board of volunteers (typically the parents of Cub Scouts) who manage the "business" of the Pack. Responsibilities of the Committee members include:

• Processing Council paperwork, such as membership registration and advancement.
• Management of finances.
• Procuring badges and awards for presentation to the Cubs.
• Organizing events such as banquets and picnics.
• Providing resources for the Cubmaster, Assistant Cubmaster, and Den Leaders, as needed.

 

Our Pack is part of the Sammamish Trails District, which in turn is part of the Chief Seattle Council.

The District and Council support the Pack with training resources, camp opportunities, events, and fundraising projects. The Council also operates a store in Seattle where program materials -- including uniforms, handbooks, awards, and other equipment -- can be purchased.
