A known historical monument in the heart of Papillion, stands the Boy Scout Cabin--a symbol of what is good in our highly regarded community since 1920. Home to Troop 60, one of the oldest active Scout troops in the US, the cabin serves not only as a storage facility for Scout gear but also as a base for our annual fundraising event at Papillion Days. During the holiday season, our cabin doubles as "Santa's Workshop".
In 2019, thanks to an outpouring of support from our local community and gracious donors, we were finally able to complete the much-needed repairs (i.e., new foundation, roof, paint, etc.) to ensure it was structurally safe for both our Scouts and our community. As of 2022, we are still working on smaller projects such as a butterfly garden and benches--to create a peaceful space for anyone and everyone to stop and enjoy the sounds and scenery of our beautiful park.
Though our unit will forever remain connected to the Scout Cabin, the Papillion Community Foundation now oversees/manages funds to maintain the upkeep of this historical site. If you would like to make a donation in support of our Cabin, please reach out the Papillion Community Foundation.
Thank you again to everyone who helped make this project a reality...to keep this piece of history for all to enjoy--for years to come!!!
