Webelos dens are for boys who have completed third grade or are age 10. Webelos is a two year program for fourth and fifth grade boys to prepare them to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. These activities are broken into five categories with four activities in each category. In addition to earning the individual activity pins a scout can earn compass points (East, West, North and South) which can be earned after earning seven activity pins. The Webelos den program is different from the Cub Scout den program by not being based only on a monthly theme, the Webelos program is based on one of twenty Webelos activities. They get to participate not only in Pack activities but also in activities held by their local Boy Scout Troop. Once they have earned their Arrow of Light patch, they are then prepared to join their local Boy Scout Troop.
